After the End

Introduction

Amy Gwilliam is Louise, Javier Ariza is Mark,
in the black box of the Espacio Tangente.

Now we come to the first play that the company introduced and tested for unconventional performance spaces. Hosted by the open doors of the Parrala Scenic Creation Centre 2010, these fragments of the play After the End was presented to an audience of 12 people, delving into the closeness of the public to create a larger impact. Later, thanks to the festival Teatracciones, the artistic couple take a step further and make the audience becomes witness and accomplice of a theatrical event.

The play serves as raw material,  to find a starting point and develop from there. It has become a work of microtheatre which is adaptable to a myriad of spaces which are close, claustrophobic, dark and cold.

Synopsis:

“This dream of yours. In the caravan. What happened after you played the game?”

Teatro Entre Escombros, in one of its first ventures as a company, presented three extracts of the play by British author Dennis Kelly After the End. In Teatracciones, the artistic couple take a step further, approaching the piece in three different ways - audio, audiovisual and theatrical - turning the audience into witnesses and accomplices to a cruel and macabre act.

Mark, after a business party, has taken his work colleague, Louise, to a Cold War nuclear bunker, in the garden of his house.

He has convinced her that there's been a nuclear explosion, hoping to get closer to her, and punishing her for something that she does not know.

The stage:
Audiovisual room of the Espacio Tangente,
where the audience followed one of the acts in this format.

The stage is an important component for the development of the show. It is a small space, minimalist, where the public is involved, seated closely to achieve greater impact. The effect achieved is an underground bunker. The piece consists of three acts. Each act will come at the viewer in a different format with the corresponding space; a space will host the theatrical event itself, what happens. Another room will host the audio format and a more visual format.

Seating is limited, depending on the place of representation, being an estimated 12 people per room. The audience rotates at the end of each act.
